Did you know there were salt flats in Texas? I didn’t. But I do now!
There’s not much history I can find. When I google Salt Flats in Texas, I get a lot of information on La Sal del Ray and Salt Flat, TX in the Guadalupe Mountains, which are both now on my list of places to visit eventually. So for now, we just know that there were the Salt Flats of Pilgrim Lake. The marker is located off of FM 1116 near Smiley (between Smiley and Gonzales), near one of my rigs back in the day, and I passed it time after time without stopping until I finally did May 7, 2024.
